Baby We Were Born To Run…Possibly

Hey all! How is your night going? Today was hectic to say the least. I was kind of bummed because I brought my laptop to work so I could do a lunchtime post but my wireless wouldn’t connect. I spent my whole lunch break trying to figure it out! I tried! Then, I signed up for a 2 week trial to NY Sports Club with full intentions to go after work but apparently it takes 24 hours for them to send the pass out so I couldn’t go. :-( I took a nice walk and did an ab workout instead at my parent’s house. Both my plans were foiled! Oh well! I’m definitely going to the gym tomorrow though because I desperately need some elliptical/treadmill time.

7-7walk

Thought I’d share the pretty view from my walk.  My parents live right near the Hudson River.  :-)

Thanks to all of you who answered my questions about running. You gave some great tips and I’m definitely going to keep them in mind.  Do you think it would be a good idea to start a run/walk routine on the treadmill before I actually hit the road?

Breakfast was simple like yesterday

7-7bfast

  • 3/4 Cup Vanilla Almond Special K
  • 1/4 cup Skim milk
  • Blueberries

You’ll probably be seeing a lot of this type of breakfast for the next two weeks. I have to be at work by 8:30 so I don’t have much time to make elaborate breakfasts.

My mid morning snack was awesome!

7-7crackers

Mary’s Gone Herb Crackers and Laughing Cow Garlic & Herb Cheese. This tasted like bagels with cream cheese except healthy.

Morning drinks looked like this

7-7dd

Small Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Iced Coffee with Skim Milk

Green Tea

Lunch was spent fighting with my laptop and eating this

7-7lunch

  • Arnold Select Multi-Grain Sandwich Thin
  • Turkey
  • Spinach
  • Cucumbers
  • Tomatoes
  • Red Wine Vinegar

After lunch, I went to drop something off at another office and the first thing the receptionist said when she saw me was “HOW DID YOU LOSE YOUR WEIGHT?!” I told her that I started a healthy living blog :-) and was motivated by a number of different bloggers. Thanks to the bloggers listed on my blogroll, I have tried a million different types of things I never would have tried had I not started blogging. So YAY for blogs!

Afternoon snack included Baby carrots and Blueberry Applesauce

I also shared some popcorn with my mom after work

My mom made an amazing dinner

7-7dinner

  • WW Pasta with marinara sauce (small piece of sausage)
  • Salad
  • Slice of Cantaloupe

7-7salad

The cantaloupe was so sweet! I topped my salad with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and pinch of Parmesan cheese.

Dessert was a couple sips of Peach Oolong Honest Tea

and dark chocolate

This post was long!! Hopefully the pictures kept you interested!

Have a great night!!

  • I say just get out there and do the walk/run Jeff Galloway method, but do it outside, since outside running is so different than the treadmill anyway and it will take you some time to adjust to the difference no matter what. It helps to run early in the morning or night though when you first start out as the summer heat can be brutal!

PS… is that BLUEBERRY chocolate?!? Haha you are quite a blueberry fiend ;)

  • Run outside definitely! The treadmill gets boring…

  • Ditto Val’s comment – if it’s nice out, why not just take it to the pavement? Enjoy the weather AND the awesome scenery! Save the treadmill for the not so great days :)

Thanks everyone! Definitely trying it soon! Promise!

  • Running out side is better for you because if you are running in some kind of weather you will get use to it if you run\walk a 5k. I would not run on the tread mill.
