I declare today ‘sleep past 10′ day. My brother and his fiancee, Angela, are here and I went to bed super late last night. I nearly fell out of bed when I woke up and saw that it was 10:40! I never sleep this late anymore! I guess my body needed the rest. Since I’m an amazing host, I cooked up a batch of banana oats for Angela and I and made my brother egg in the hole (bagel).

We had an eventful night last night, starting with a happy hour at a local brewery. My brother loves beer so we ordered 2 samplers for the table

I drank about half of the lighter beers and let Jeff have the darker ones since I don’t like bitter beer. There was an awesome ginger beer that I was in love with. We also ordered this monster plate of nachos to share between the 4 of us

The boys consumed the majority of this plate. I had a few on a separate plate and ended up eating more tomatoes and olives than the chips with cheese.
After the happy hour, we headed back to the apartment for a couple hours and then went out to dinner at a family style Italian restaurant called Buca Di Beppo.

Jeff and I ate at this restaurant back in July and loved it so we decided it was the perfect place to bring my brother and Angela. This place is awesome because you can order a couple things off the menu and just share with the table.
We started out with an Apple Gorgonzola Salad

This was my favorite part of our dinner. The salad was amazing!! Here’s the menu description:
Tart Granny Smith apples, Spiced Walnuts, Dried Cranberries and Gorgonzola cheese tossed with our fresh lettuce blend in our signature Italian vinaigrette.
I LOVED this salad! I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself.
For our entree, we ordered the Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken and a Side of Meatballs

Here’s a description of the chicken:
Breaded Chicken Breasts stuffed with Mozzarella and Prosciutto, baked and topped with Marinara, served on a bed of Pesto Cream sauce.
Here’s my plate:

Needless to say, we have plenty of leftovers. I am super excited to dig into that salad later for dinner.
Angela and I rounded out the night by sharing some Coconut M&Ms for dessert

Can you tell that my family shares a lot!? We shared everything we ate yesterday.
Today we are going to another brewery for lunch (as I mentioned above, my brother really likes beer- he and my other brother make their own at home) and possibly to Emack & Bolio’s for dessert.
Do you like family style restaurants?
My family always shares everything we eat. We pass our plates around at restaurants so we can try everything. Family-style restaurants are perfect for us! :
Have a great day!!

i adore cranberries in salads. any portal for dried fruit is okay with me.
Sometimes you just need to sleep in. That salad definitely looks good . . . and there are those coconut M&Ms again! Yum!
I really like family style restaurants. No pressure to eat so much, just whatever you feel like and you get tons of variety. Next time I am at Buca, I will get their Apple Gorgonzola Salad. It does look amazing. I like their Lemon Chicken and Pizza Angelo. Mmm…. Good thing they always offer coupons in the mail.
Have a good weekend.
Another brewery!? Excellent choice! Beer samplers are so fun!
