WARNING: This post is going to be SUPER LONG because I had a day full of fun and I want to share it all with you. However, I’ll understand completely if you want to skip all of my gabbing and just scroll through the pics.
My day started with a piece of Rye Toast with Apricot Fruit Preserves + 1/2 cup of coffee (Let me warn you in advance, I drank an unnecessary amount of coffee today. However, I didn’t photograph ANY of my coffee consumption for some reason. I kept forgetting. Weird!)

I met my friend, Dara, and new friend, Jill, at a local diner for breakfast at 11:00ish

Jill + Dara
I had an iced coffee with skim milk and ordered the Mediterranean Breakfast Wrap
The wrap was filled with scrambled eggs, spinach, tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese. It came with a side of home fries which I ate about half of. Dara ordered a bagel and a side of home fries (notice her HUMONGOUS side of home fries in the background?) and Jill got Chocolate Chip Pancakes (they were yummy, I tried them!)
I ate half of my wrap and then poured the contents of the other half onto my plate and picked at it.

After breakfast, I hurried back to my parents’ house to accompany them on a trip to Hoboken, NJ. The city of Hoboken is located directly across from Manhattan and has amazing skyline views of NYC.

It’s about 40 minutes from my parents’ house so I did some reading for school on the car ride over. When we got there, I made a bee-line for Starbucks and ordered a Grande Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte. I don’t know what it was with me and coffee today. I kept craving it.
We spent the afternoon walking around and window shopping. I almost died when we stumbled across Crumbs Bake Shop
Thinking back, I should have taken a picture of the variety of cupcakes they had because they all looked amazing but I failed and didn’t. If you go to their website, you can look at all of them and even order online!
My mom treated me to a cupcake and had me pick one out for Jeff as well.

They are the size of my head and mine will last me all week. I got the Red Velvet for myself and I chose the Apple Cobbler for Jeff. Have you ever heard of/tried these cupcakes? It took everything in me to not take a big bite right then and there! (Check out the end of this post for a review)
After drooling over cupcakes for a bit, my parents and I went to an old, family favorite for dinner: Arthur’s Tavern

After we were seated, they immediately brought over a bowl of pickles

I had one.
My family has been going to Arthur’s for as long as I can remember and we always go for one thing: the burgers!

I don’t know what’s bigger-this burger or the cupcake! We had an early dinner. It was around 4:00 when we got our food. So this was a combined lunch/dinner. I cut the burger in half and saved the other half for Jeff.

Still, one half of the burger was HUGE! I topped it with lettuce, tomatoes, and ketchup. We also got these awesome potatoes on the side

Unfortunately, since I haven’t had a greasy burger or greasy potatoes in a LONG TIME, my stomach sort of revolted almost immediately after I was done eating. Plus, this burger just doesn’t really do it for me anymore. Don’t get me wrong- it’s an excellent burger! I just don’t enjoy burgers as much as I used to. I guess my tastes have changed.
After dinner, my parents and I decided to stop by Trader Joe’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven’t been there in such a long time because I don’t have one near my apartment. I’ve been living vicariously through other blogger’s trips to TJs and making my mom buy my Dark Chocolate Covered Edamame
Check out my haul:

- Blue Corn Chips
- Hot Chipotle Salsa
- Almond Butter (Finally! This is my first jar of almond butter, I’ve been using little packets!)
- Apple Cereal Bars (for Jeff)
- Maple Agave Syrup Blend (for pancakes/waffles)
- Dark Chocolate Covered Edamame
- Frozen Crushed Garlic
- Frozen Chopped Basil
- Rustico Pasta Sauce
The peach, plums, and kiwis are from a Farm Market in Hoboken, not TJs.
Yummmm
After a long, fun day with my parents, I packed my bags and started the two and a half hour drive back to Albany.
Naturally, I stopped at Starbucks on the way for a Grande Nonfat Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Unpictured! Any guesses as to why I FORGOT to take pictures of the ridiculous amount of coffee I drank today?!)
Needless to say, my stomach was doing the flips all the way home (from the greasy dinner!) and I wasn’t very hungry until a couple minutes ago. I decided to dig into my cupcake! Perfect remedy for a tummy ache, right?! I thought so!

(Yes, that’s a pumpkin in the background!)
Doesn’t that cupcake look absurdly delicious?!?!?!? Of course, I cut it in to quarters. I think I would pass out if I tried to consume that much sugar in one sitting!

Seriously, go order some of these RIGHT NOW! I think this was the BEST cupcake I’ve ever had! I’m not kidding.
That being said, I’ll leave you with this completely unrelated picture of me in a crazy hat

Cheers!
Kudos to anyone who read this whole post. I stopped listening to myself 15 minutes ago
Seriously, thank you all for being so lovely! CUPCAKES FOR EVERYONE! <3

YUM! What an awesome day! I LOVE diner wraps- I swear they have some magical touch! Cake looks amazing… I’ve never been to Crumbs but am planning on going to Babycakes as soon as I get to NY. Looks awesome. I MISS Trader Joes!!!!! Ah, fab place
Enjoy your Labor Day!
I’ve never eaten a cupcake
Looks like you had an awesome day! Discovering new bakeries is so fun, I just had the best cupcake of my life when I was in Chicago a couple weeks ago. And yayy for getting to go to TJ’s!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!
Oh my gosh–you warned us that this post was long–but girrrrl I am so glad it was! I love it!
I also love how you are more excited about Trader Joes (I gauge this by exclamation points haha) than you were by the cupcakes. That is when you know you are a true healthy blogger.
I am going to Trader Joes tomorrow–I am pumped too!
Those cupcakes look really good!! Nice TJs haul, too
My stomach shares your stomach’s pain when it comes to greasy/fried foods. It hates them but sometimes it’s just worth it!
what a fun weekend!
maple agave blend? man…I have to add that my wish list from TJs
I’ll get to go in a few weeks when I’m visiting my parents!
I made it!
And ummm yes, I’ll take a cupcake please, those look totally yum!
Breakfast at 11am! Brings me back… college rocks.
I am completely envious of your trip to TJ’s. Heck, I am envious of EVERYONE who is within TJ’s. The chocolate covered edamame are super great.
Those cupcakes looks huge and heavenly!!!
I never really thought to eat or shop in Hoboken. It was always the stop on the train for me before I hopped on the Path to 14th street in NYC. I just might have to actually go to that bakery the next time I am in that area (not any time soon though because I live near you now
).
I hear you on the TJ’s not being near you. The closest one to you is actually about 1.25 hours from me and I’m an hour from Albany. I actually have friends who live in Albany that come visit me and we make the treck from here.
Looks like you had fun though. Enjoy your treats and hope your tummy has settled down from the grease.
Ahh I want to go to TJ’s so bad. Your cupcake looks so good!
TJs, cupcakes, Starbucks!? Yum yum! Good day!
Haha those 3 1/2 servings of coffee crack me up! You must have been wired! The only times I usually have more than one cup are on long run days where I have some before my run and then fuel during my runs with caffeinated Gus… and I’m bouncing off the walls as a result!
i like this post
tj’s does rock. i have that tomato sauce also– i pour half into a different container and freeze it since I tend to never get a chance to use it all before it goes bad in my fridge! also- was that the crumbs in union square in manhattan? or is there another location in hoboken? such good treats, i often window shop there after work haha
They have a location in Hoboken! I couldn’t resist! I needed to try one and I’ll definitely be ordering some online for parties!
Holy cow that cupcake looks good!!

You really had some good fun and eats! Not a fan of cupcakes, but they sure are nice to look at! That burger, though, looked great!
So many fun eats! I want to make a Mediterranean bfast wrap at home now! hehe. My aunt brought some of the mini (I think they’re the ‘taste’ size?) Crumbs cupcakes down awhile ago and omg. AMAZING. Love the fun flavors.
