I’m home!! And by home I mean my other home. Because I have two, obviously. I am at my parents’ house in Rockland County, NY. (Please excuse the fact that Wikipedia says that Rockland is 12 miles away from NYC. It isn’t. Maybe if you jumped in the Hudson River and swam. It’s actually about 30 miles away) Anyway I’m at the house I grew up in and I am fairly certain that it is haunted. That’s right. Haunted.
Why you ask? Because last night while I was sleeping and minding my own freaking business, my door knob turned and the door opened all by itself. Definitely ghosts. Or wind. Or ghosts. Or I’m crazy. Yep…..::Crickets::
The Whole Wheat Pasta Arrabbiata with Arugula recipe came from the Rachael Ray Magazine. I got my mother a subscription a couple months ago. She loves Rachael Ray. Every time I come home, she either makes a recipe from the magazine or one of Giada De Laurentiis’ recipes . Yum. I love my mother’s cooking.
While my mom was making the pasta, my brother heated up some breaded chicken cutlets topped with mozzarella for a quick Chicken Parm.
It was the perfect welcome home dinner!
Before I left for my parents’ house yesterday, I had a Post-Op appointment at the Oral Surgeon. The doctor said that my mouth is healing normally and that I can start eating normal foods again!! Hurray! I’m so lucky that I didn’t have any complications. The doctor did a really good job and Jeff did an even better job taking care of me and making sure I did everything the right way after the surgery.
Jeff and I had a Goodbye Albany dinner on Sunday night at P.F. Chang’s.
Since it was the night before my follow-up appointment, I wasn’t sure if I should eat hard foods yet so I ordered the Cantonese Chow Fun
Wide Rice Noodles with a Choice of Chicken or Beef with Onions and Ginger
I ordered it with chicken. I wanted to try the vegetarian version but it came with a spicy sauce and I wasn’t supposed to eat anything spicy after the surgery.
I ate about 1/3 of the dish. And had some of the leftovers yesterday for lunch.
We decided to order mini desserts after dinner. I got the Red Velvet one.
It was yummy and just the right size.
This morning I had my usual bowl of banana oats with cinnamon and a little bit of brown sugar. Nothing fancy. I didn’t add anything to the top for once.
I’m trying to get my eating back on track because I’ve been eating crap since I had my wisdom teeth extracted last week. KFC Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Friendly’s Milkshakes, and jello are all fine and well when I can’t eat normal food but I fully intend on resuming regular eating now. Of course, I’ll make exceptions for a few holiday sweets.
I also plan on indulging on a few childhood favorites. There’s a deli near my house that makes the most amazing breakfast sandwiches! They are totally worth the calories and I plan on having one before I return to Albany.
As far as the gym goes- I haven’t been since the day before my surgery. I’m finally feeling sort of up to it but I don’t want to push it. I brought my Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video with me and I plan on getting a month membership to NY Sports Club. It’s 15 minutes from my parents’ house so I will probably try to work out at home more often. I also want to take a couple yoga and spin classes.
Anyway, that’s all I have for today. Tonight I am meeting Lynn from Actor’s Diet and Christina from the Christina Butter Blog for dinner at the Palisades Mall. So Excited!
Have you gone on any blogger meet-ups?
Have a great day!!

Blogger meetups sound so fun; I dont think Ive ever met another blogger
Scary!!!! At my old dorm in Boston, sometimes my door knob would jiggle in the night. I always thought it was this uber creepy guy who lived on the first floor!
That pasta looks good though
First: I love that restaurants are doing those mini desserts now. It’s just enough to kick the craving.
Second: I haven’t been to any blogger meet-ups (don’t live in a BIG city). I HATE meeting new people in person so I would have to make a definite effort to go and enjoy it.
see you soon lady!
No, I haven’t gone on any blogger meet-ups unfortunately
I don’t know any bloggers that are anywhere near me.
I absolutely LOVE pasta, and the dish your mom made looks scrumptious!
I hope you had no more creepy encounters last night! It was great meeting you – I had no idea there were bloggers so close to my area
And I love your blog by the way now that I had a chance to check it out!
