Happy 2010!!!

It’s 2010!!!!!!!!!!

New Year's Eve

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My last day of 2009 started with a trip to my favorite diner. I love this diner so much that I actually refer to it as the favorite diner and not by it’s real name, which is The Landmark Diner. It’s located by Jeff’s parents’ house in Westchester.  Jeff and I went to this diner so often when we lived at home that the people who worked there knew us. I ordered one of my favorite items on the menu: The American Scrambler.

It’s an English muffin topped with ham and scrambled eggs with american cheese mixed in.

Not the healthiest breakfast ever but I had to splurge since we never get to go to this diner anymore. I ended up giving A LOT of my ham to Jeff. There were like 5 pieces on the whole thing. The portion was huge. I ate about half the eggs and half the home fries. It was the perfect New Year’s eve breakfast.

After breakfast, Jeff and I ran a few errands. We eventually ended up at a local bagel place for lunch. I got a Cranberry Nut Muffin and a cup of coffee. I wanted to keep it light since we had 8:00pm dinner reservations.

The muffin was light,  fluffy and flavorful. Exactly what I wanted. :-)

After I spent a million hours getting ready, Jeff and I headed to Emma’s Ale House in White Plains for a special New Year’s eve dinner.

The restaurant was very dark so my pictures aren’t too great. I did what I could. Emma’s Ale House is an upscale pub with a cozy atmosphere and delicious food.

I started the evening with an Apple Martini.

The service was fantastic and our server immediately brought a basket of warm, soft pretzel sticks to our table.

How original!! I’m so used to  bread baskets. It was nice to get something a little different.

I ordered Emma’s Country Style Chophouse Salad for my entrée.

Romaine, Asparagus, Corn, Spiced Walnuts, Gruyere, Egg, Onions, Tomatoes, Roasted Peppers, Crispy Potatoes with Thick Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side.

Sorry again for the quality of the photos. I didn’t want to use my flash and disturb anyone in the restaurant. I wish I could have taken a better picture of this salad. It was amazing. I ended up eating a little more than half of it.

Jeff and I decided to splurge on the Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée for dessert.

This has to be the best Crème Brûlée I’ve ever had. I’m not even exaggerating. It was excellent.

Overall, we had a very good experience at Emma’s Ale House and I would definitely go back again and recommend it if you’re ever in the area.

The city of White Plains has their own celebration each year for New Year’s eve so Jeff and I decided to check it out. Since we knew we’d be drinking, we got a hotel room. Before we left the room, we had a few drinks.

Jeff was ridiculous and filled the ice bucket to the very top.

We’re classy. Drinking mixed drinks out of paper hotel cups.

After taking silly pictures in the hotel room, we hopped into a cab and headed into downtown White Plains.

It started snowing as soon as we got out of the cab. It was still a lot of fun to be outside and around people at midnight! We had a great night!
