When Jeff and I were driving back to our apartment a couple weeks ago, I spotted this double decker bus out my window and almost died.
I thought I may have been dreaming. A CUPCAKE STAND ON A DOUBLE DECKER BUS?! WHAT?!!!!?!??
We didn’t stop at the time but when we drove by it the next day, I knew I had to go.
I still felt like I was dreaming when Jeff and I climbed up into the bus. The woman working inside explained that the home store, Bettie’s Cakes, is located in Saratoga Springs but the bus would be in Albany until Christmas Eve. They use the double decker for events.
After staring at all of the wonderful looking cupcakes, I finally decided on a mini Red Velvet cupcake and a regular sized Chocole Cupcake. Since we visited the bus 4 days after I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I had to be very careful eating them.
I ate the Red Velvet cupcake as soon as we got home. I had to scrap off some of the icing because the little sprinkles would have gotten stuck in my mouth. I honestly wasn’t too impressed with the red velvet cake. It was sort of bland and definitely wasn’t what I expected.
I took the chocolate cupcake to my parents’ house and split it into 4 sections. I have to admit, I didn’t have high hopes for the chocolate cupcake since the red velvet one wasn’t too great. The chocolate was the complete opposite though. The cake was moist and the icing was very flavorful.
I can’t wait to try some of their other flavors! Here’s some that caught my eye on the website menu:
- Blueberry Cream Cheese
- PB&J
- Cappuccino
- PB Cup
If you’re ever in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping by Bettie’s Cakes and enjoying a cupcake!
Do you like cupcakes?

That is too cool! What will they think of next?
I love cupcakes but they don’t love me. I might have to check that out though since Hunni loves them and Saratoga is on my list of fun friday trips.
that. is. awesome! I wish we had one.
This is sooo cool! I’ve seent them in Saratoga but I didn’t know they had a bus! AWESOME!
And you said Albany sucks.
I am not a big fan of sweets, especially cakes/ cupcakes … but I am always on the lookout for a cupcake or cake to change my mind
It would have to be ULTRA moist!
Total rip-off. One tiny little cupcake is $3. They do not take debit cards or credit cards, the cupcake itself was dry and the frosting was just ok. For $3 go to Bountiful bread and get a real cupcake! It’s worth the $$$ and calories!
