Happy Thursday!! It’s almost Friday! I can’t really appreciate Friday this week because I just had 2 snow days in a row.
Yesterday morning, I made a broccoli and sundried tomato & basil “sausage” egg scramble. Say that five times fast.
It had a bit of cheddar mixed in and Frank’s Red Hot on top. I had a piece of Arnold German Dark Wheat bread on the side.
This is the second time I’ve had broccoli and eggs in the last week. Last time I didn’t mix the Tofurky “sausage” in. But after each time I’ve had this breakfast, I’ve had horrible stomach pains. I don’t know what it is. I’ve been eating eggs forever. Is it possible to just develop an egg allergy out of nowhere? I got the eggs at the co-op but maybe I got a bad batch. Jeff felt fine after he ate them earlier this week. Weird!
So my stomach ache ruined plans for a workout yesterday. I ate breakfast at around 8 and my stomach started to finally feel better around 1. Bummer.
I didn’t want to eat anything crazy at around noon, so I had a yogurt mess (like that doesn’t sound crazy or anything)
I mixed everything under the sun into my mug.
- ~1/2 cup Plain Yogurt
- 1/2 Tbsp Jay Robb Vanilla Brown Rice Protein Powder
- 1 sliced Banana
- Toasted Wheat Germ (probably something ridiculous like 3 tbsps- haha)
- Shredded Unsweetened Coconut
- 3 or 4 drops of NuNaturals Cocoa Bean Extract
Oh man! This was so good! It did bother my stomach a tiny bit though. Probably because my stomach was already upset.
Jeff had class at 1:30 (classes were only canceled until 12:30) and we had somewhere to be at 4 so I went with him to school. I bought a cup of Tazo Calm Tea at the Campus Center.
I need some of this tea at home! It made my stomach feel better instantly (and even though it may have been a psychological thing, it also calmed me down) The Web site describes it as a comforting blend of chamomile, rose petals, and other soothing herbs.
After my stomach felt better, I suddenly had a craving for really soft bread. Weird. I walked over to the sandwich shop in the Campus Center and ordered a 6″ Veggie Sub stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, banana peppers, pickles, and jalapenos.
I didn’t get dressing on it because I was afraid it would hurt my stomach. I also picked most of the jalapenos off. I don’t know why I always ask for them on veggie sandwiches. I don’t really like them.
When Jeff got out of class, we went to Uncommon Grounds where I was able to stomach an iced coffee.
Then is was time for a scary doctor’s appointment. Remember last week when I said I was going through some personal issues? Without revealing too much info, I’ll say this: I’ve had a couple of really uncomfortable/painful medical tests done over the past week. I’ve been really scared about the outcome and found out yesterday that things are fine. So that’s good news, right!?
After we were done at the doctor, I was craving a huge salad from Unos. Eating out after going through something stressful makes me feel a lot better and cheers me up.
I ordered the Spinach, Chicken, and Gorgonzola salad (without the chicken, obviously)
With Honey Glazed Walnuts, Red Onion, Green Apples, Ocean Spray® Sweetened Dried Cranberries and our classic vinaigrette. I orded the dressing on the side (sorry Mae) and split the bread stick with Jeff. I devoured the whole salad. It was so delicious. It was mostly spinach at first but then I found a whole pile of walnuts, cranberries, and Gorgonzola at the bottom of the plate. It was like finding a hidden treasure! So good!
For dessert, we split the Mini Hot Chocolate Brownie Sundae
They are not messing around with their mini dessert. This was awesome!
I may or may not have snuck in a handful of TJ’s dark chocolate covered edamame when we got home.
I’m going to the gym to run in a couple hours. We’re supposed to get more snow today.
Do you have any weird allergies? Tell me about them!
Have a great Thursday!

I am so jealous of your snow days!! We have never had a real snow day, where we didn’t have to go to work – and we get obscene amounts of snow!! And frigid temperatures!!
I am glad to hear that your tests showed that you are fine – that is VERY good news!!
I don’t have any allergies, but as a kid if I had even half a can of pop, I would get a headache. The doctor thought I might have a minor sugar “allergy” or “intolerance.” I am still NOT a big fan of sugary foods, but I don’t get headaches from them anymore.
Recently when I was eating pomegranate arils my mouth got itchy. Weird hey!!? I haven’t had them since that time, which was around Christmas. I wonder if it was a one time thing, or if I was developing an allergy! I don’t know if I want to find out
maybe it’s the early morning broccoli causing the stomach upset?
I’m glad everything worked out well for you!!
That brownie looks amazing!!
YAY for snowdays! I have one today!
It is possible to develop a food allergy out of nowhere. If it was a true allergy you would have some sort of skin reaction or breathing problem besides the stomach pains though. Maybe it’s the hot sauce irritating your stomach?
Tazo calm tea is so good! Chamomile is known to soothe the stomach and help you feel relaxed! Peppermint tea is also good for soothing a stomachache. =)
I have tons of allergies but I think the weirdest ones are animal proteins (so vegan for me) and pea proteins (which BTW is in like EVERY vegan protein powder)
I was going to say what Shana said, it is possible to suddenly develop an allergy to something that hasn’t bothered you before but stomach issues, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea … none of those are allergies. I hope you feel bettr soon.
I am glad to hear that everything is OK, kiddo!!!! Been sending good thoughts you way!!!!
Food sensitivites can rear their ugly heads randomly and then sometimes just leave. THis is what happened to me in regards to eggs. Try eating an egg on it’s own and see how you feel, that way you will be able to see if it is the actual egg or something that is being mixed with the eggs.
XOXO
Once again, I’m so happy everything is fine!!
Haha you crack me up: you love salad and veggies, you love bread/bagels but when they’re together you peel them apart.
Someone else mentioned it might be the broccoli that’s giving you tummy aches? Try a scramble in the afternoon sans broccoli and see if it has the same effect.
I’m sorry about your missed workout, and I hope the belly is back in action tomorrow! haha
Holy YUM!
Loved all your eats!
Have a great night!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
I’m glad everything’s okay
I actually don’t have any allergies (that I know of). That’s kind of weird in itself I guess!
