So, who else had a fantastic weekend?! I did! We had beautiful, no-jacket kind of weather and of course, weekends are destined to be great when they start like this:
Uncommon Grounds has the best bagels in Albany. And blueberry coffee with a tiny bit of vanilla syrup and soy milk is the most amazing combination ever.
Here’s another reason my weekend was great:
I got to see my adorable nephew, Nicholas. Look at him! He looks exactly like my brother! I’m not going to be an annoying aunt and make a fuss over him. Just stare at his cute face for a little while and smile.
Jeff and I headed downstate on Friday to go out to dinner for my father’s birthday.
We ordered three large pizzas at Pepe’s. I dominated the pepper & onion pie.
Pepe’s coal-fired-oven pizzas have very thin and crispy crusts. The pies are sliced erratically so some slices are huge and others are tiny. I think I had 4 randomly sized slices. All of them were perfect.
And what’s a birthday without cake?!
I had a small slice:
We didn’t end up getting back to Albany until 2 a.m.! Needless to say, I slept in on Saturday.
I started my morning off with Banana Bread Oats
I mixed a small slice of the branana bread I made on Wednesday into my oats. It was so good and it kept me full until 2:00 for lunch.
Lunch was a sunshine burger on an Arnold Sandwich thin with grapes on the side.
Jeff and I decided to explore downtown Albany since it was so nice out.
I stopped at a tea shop and got rose-lavender tea
We wandered around Washington Park…
And enjoyed a nice day out!
When we got home, I made Cooking Light Potato Latkes for dinner.
To keep this post from becoming gigantic, I’m going to leave Sunday and Monday out of the mix except to tell you that I ran three miles on Sunday and burned the crap out of a PB & Banana grilled sandwich.
I also need to conclude this post with one image:
Soooo dangerous! I’ve devoured half the box already.
What’s your favorite kind of cookie?
Have a great Tuesday!

i just ordered girl scout cookies! Do-si-dos and Lemon Chalet Cremes.
I’m actually not a big Girl Scouts Cookie fan, but I LOVE oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Uncommon Grounds is such a good name for a coffee place!
I made these really awesome sugar free banana peanut butter cookies that I’m about to make again. Yummy!
Both the streets of Albany, and Washington park are BEAUTIFUL!! What a lovely place to spend the day!!
Your nephew is TOO cute!! I love the close-up
I love chocolate chip cookies (homemade).
Glad you had a great weekend! I just discovered we have an Uncommon Grounds here in Chicago, I wonder if it is a chain or if they just happen to have the same name?
OMG your nephew is PRECIOUS!
and that bagel looks delicious <3
hope youre doing well, ladyy
Uncommon Grounds bagels = manhole covers in size, but they are, hands-down, the best bagels in the area. In fact, as a former Long Island resident, I can confidently state that they can compete with any downstate bagel. And their non-fat Chai Latte’s are fantabulous!!
We are pretty addicted to Thin Mints here at the store!
Thin Mint Frappe? We’ve done it.
We go to the Saratoga Uncommon Grounds – and I agree that they make the best bagels! I loved the apple cinnamon one they had last fall.
Ohmygod. That picture of your nephew! That expression is PRICELESS.
Eff Thin Mints. My favorite girl scout cookies are Tagalongs. Peanut + chocolate. Enough said.
