I really need to kiss whoever it was that came up with the idea to put coconut and pineapple together in a pancake. I owe another kiss to the person who put this plate of fresh, local fruit, yogurt, and homemade granola together…
Isn’t it pretty? It tasted just like it looks. I think I found a new favorite breakfast spot.
See that awesome girl right there? That’s my friend, Mareesa, and we had breakfast together yesterday morning.
If you’re ever in Saratoga, please, PLEASE go to Beverly’s on Phila St. You won’t be disappointed. It reminded me of a cute cafe in NYC or The Bistro in New Paltz. The menu is SO creative, and I wanted to order one of everything. The pancakes are made with whole wheat flour and wheat germ. WHEAT GERM!
Look how cute it is! I’m getting excited just writing about it! I want to go back right NOW!
GO THERE! This dog wants you to:
I’m not kidding. The next Healthy Living Summit should be held at Beverly’s. The restaurant probably only seats about 50 people, but that doesn’t matter.
OK- I’m going a little too far. My hope is that there is a tiny breakfast place like this near everybody. Breakfast is my absolute FAVORITE meal to go out for. I loved this place so much that I already know it’s going to be one of the top ten things I miss when I move away from Albany.
OY! Enough.
GUESS WHAT I DID LAST NIGHT?
I took a million pictures while posing in front of the mirror
I went to the gym! I worked out for the first time since my sports med. appointment two and a half weeks ago. And, oh man, did it feel awesome!
I even walked there! That’s how excited I was.
If you’re new to my blog, you may not know that I am recovering from an ankle injury. I have ankle tendonitis, and have had to skip out on my normal workout routine quite few times in the last month. It has obviously made me a bit upset and frustrated at times, but I’ve handled it pretty well for the most part.
I wasn’t having the greatest day yesterday, and I knew that working out would fix that. It did! I took it easy with 30 minutes on the crossramp elliptical (still can’t run yet), and it was fabulous! GO ME!
NOW, let’s play a little game!
I think that I really need this camera. For the past week or so, I’ve been mixing up the pictures I post with ones I’ve taken with my camera, and ones I’ve taken with Jeff’s. (Have you noticed?) My camera is the one you see in the picture above. It’s a simple Canon PowerShot. Jeff’s looks like this:
I’ve been thinking of upgrading ever since my camera fell out of my bag in NYC a few weeks ago and the zoom stopped working. I could technically get it fixed for $40, but I’m thinking I want a better camera anyway.
SO, here’s the question—Can you tell which of these pictures was taken with Jeff’s camera and which one was taken with mine?
Let me know in the comment section of this post.
[I’m too excited for fall---can you tell?]
Also, PLEASE let me know if the pictures on my blog spill over into the right sidebar on your computer! I know this has been an issue on some computers I’ve looked at my blog from. It has something to do with the resolution? Gah! I don’t know! Just tell me if my pics look crazy! They should be centered in between the pink/purple borders.
Well, I’M OFF to breakfast with my lovely friend, Emily. [In case you’re wondering- I’m writing an article about breakfast places in Saratoga. I don’t usually eat breakfast out every day. I would if I could!]
Questions of the day:
- Obviously, answer the picture question above, but also…
- Tell me about your absolutely FAVORITE breakfast/brunch place! I want to do a tour of breakfast places around the country. Who’s with me!?
Have an awesome Thursday! <3

If you have a Costco in your area, you might want to check them out. Mine has a TON of cameras (including DSLRs that are WAY out of my price range).
I think A is Jeff’s but either way you need a new camera. You want one and you love taking pics with the nicer one. DO IT, DO IT, DO IT! (shouted frat boy style not that I’ve ever met a frat boy
)
You know my issues with viewing your pics but I fixed it on my old computer so it’s all good now
I’m guessing A was taken with Jeff’s and B with yours. I have a Nikkon and love it. I think it’s worth getting if you want to shoot manual and adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO on your own. If you plan to shoot on auto, then a point and shoot is much cheaper. (If cost is an issue.)
Oh, and the photos only spill over when the browser is minimized very small. Full screen, or even just medium sized and the photos are inside the lines.
Ohhh girl, you know the Bistro?! The Bistro may possibly be my favorite breakfast place of all time. Walnut citron bread.
I’m guessing your camera is exhibit B. But I don’t know cameras very well.
The Bistro is my life!
That’s the camera I just purchased and I love it. No, it’s not an SLR, but you know what? Point and shoot works for my lifestyle and the 20x zoom is just what I needed. I got some great food pix on vacation over the weekend, as well as gorgeous shots of the ocean. Great multi-purpose camera!
YAY that you worked out! I’ll bet that did feel great. I couldn’t run for about four months last year. Torture! Take it nice and easy
That fruit plate looks amazing! I wish there was a place near me that served yummy breakfast food like that. I can’t tell the difference in the cameras to be honest. Just a heads up, if you are looking for an affordable camera that takes great photos, you might want to try the Canon Powershot-Digital Elph. It is really small, under 200 bucks, and the photo quality is great. All of the photos on my blog were taken with one, you should check them out.
Jessie,
Your photos ARE beautiful! I have a canon powershot right now! I love it, but I just want an upgrade!
At first I thought B was Jeff’s because of the pretty tree background, then I realized A was sharper. So, I go with A. Ah! I wish they were pictures of the same thing!
Anyway, shamelessly, I say that my favorite breakfast place is the Cracker Barrel. This is not a place that you go to lightly (nor is this a place you would get one of those fabulous fresh fruit bowls). You must prepare. And make sure you ask for the biscuits to come out first.
I have never been to beverly’s!! I’m going to have to go there… maybe this weekend!! Hmm.. It looks to me like you too the first picture with Jeff’s camera and the second with yours.
I have a Nikon DSLR camera that I bought last summer. It was a HUGE investment, about $1,000, but so worth it. The picture quality is so good compared to a point and shoot!
Glad to hear you made it to the gym last night
That’s a bummer about your ankle!
Up For Breakfast in Manchester, VT.
50 South in Ballston Spa, NY.
Try Beverly’s Pumpkin Pancakes in the Fall~amazing!
My guess is that Exhibit B is your camera. Your pics do not spill over on my computer, they are always centered.
Glad you were able to make a trip to the gym! Your blog is great! I look forward to it daily ~ Thank You! Thoughts and prayers for your healing ankle, beautiful spirit and life’s challenges!
Margaret,
Pumpkin Pancakes??????????????? You just made my life.
Thank you so much for your comment. It made my day!
My guess is picture A is Jeff’s camera?!
New blog reader, here! And I look forward to reading more
I’m currently sitting in the coffee shop with you and I’m rather puzzled which picture is better, hahaha. I think that the first one was taken with Jeff’s camera? lol
You are a fabulous coffee shop date, my dear!
One of my favorite breakfast spots is Bubby’s in Tribeca. We lived down the street from there and would go almost every Saturday – incredible pancakes!
Hahaha! I didn’t even know you were taking that picture with me in it. You’re so sneaky.
I’m glad you got to workout, must feel so good. talk to you soon!
wow that breakfast looks absolutely FABULOUS and delicious!
enjoy the day, lovely
i’m guessing A is your camera?? i don’t know, i think i’m distracted by the food…
we used to go to an AMAZING place in san antonio called Madhatter’s. i’m drooling over the thought of being there.
I think Exhibit B is the nicer camera? Neither look bad though. I do love having my dSLR though. If you use it enough, its worth it.
And that breakfast place looks awesome!
A looks like its indoors and is still clear, B is outdoors so any camera can get a good focus. I don’t know. (which make might Jeff a bit mad about his fancy camera).. but i say B is yours, A is Jeffs.
oh and the pics are fine on my computer.
my screen resolution is set really high though.
The picture spills over if I have a sidebar open.
I’m guessing that A is Jeff’s – it just looks a tad crisper and brighter – but that could be because the yellow soup really stands out. To be fair, I would take the same picture with both cameras and THEN ask us to compare
I guess A is his camera.
You should get a dslr!
Hmm. I think Jeff’s is picture 2! The details seem to pop more in the feta/salsa on the sweet potato (and it looks like there’s more depth?). It’s hard to tell because they’re not pictures of the same thing!
