Blog Bake Sale for Strides Against Breast Cancer

Why I am Fundraising:

Because I realize that some of you are new the blog, or you may just have missed this post, I’d like to give a brief explanation of why I’m raising money for Strides Against Breast Cancer, and how you can help!

On October 15, I am having a lump in my right breast surgically removed and biopsied. I have not been diagnosed with breast cancer, and the doctors are fairly certain that the lump is a fibroadenoma (a benign tumor). Still, after writing about my experience on my blog, some of my readers have persuaded me to get a biopsy to be sure. When I told my doctor that I wanted a biopsy, he suggested I get the whole lump removed so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

In the past two months, I’ve written about my how I first found the lump, my ultrasound experience, and my decision to get a biopsy.

The support I’ve received from my readers and the blogging community has completely blown me away.

Because the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk takes place two days after my surgery, I can’t physically participate.

I can, however, raise money for the cause, so that in the future, women like me won’t have to live in fear that they may or may not have breast cancer. So that women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer have a fighting chance, and so that breast cancer survivors can look back on their experiences and know that their stories made an impact, and created change.

How you can help:

Many of you have expressed interest in donating baked goods for my blog bake sale.

My plan is to have the sale one week from today: Wednesday, October 6.

The post will go up at 7 a.m. and bidding will end at midnight EST.

Baked goods must be shipped to the winners within one week of the close of the sale.

If you are interested, please send me an e-mail at rebecca[at]roseyrebecca[dot]com indicating:

  • Your name/your blog (if you have one)
  • What you plan to make

I will need a photo of the baked good by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. Please feel free to reuse a picture even if it is not exactly what you plan to make. Example: if you plan to make pumpkin cupcakes, a photo of a batch of cupcakes, pumpkin or not, is acceptable.

Right now, I do not have a limit on the number of baked goods I will accept for the sale. This may change depending on the number of  e-mails I receive.

Because I am not clear on policies for shipping food outside of the country, bidding will be open to US residents only.

The winners will have until midnight EST on Friday, October 8, to donate their bid to my Strides Against Breast Cancer page. More details on how to go about bidding will be provided on the day of the bake sale.

That’s all I can think of to say about it right now! 🙂

Thank you for much for your support! <3

UPDATE: I’m loving all the e-mails I’m getting so far. Heather suggested that the Blog Bake Sale be a bake and MAKE sale. I think it’s a great idea! So, if you are not a baker, but  you make crafts, like jewelery or signs, and you’d like to donate for the sale, feel free to e-mail me!!
