Blog Bake & Make Sale!!! (CLOSED)

UPDATE (Thursday 8:12 A.M.): All of the winners have been contacted by e-mail. I will announce the winning bids this afternoon. For now, I’m off to class!! THANK YOU AGAIN!

Thank you all so much for participating. Winning bids will be announced, and winners will be contacted by e-mail tomorrow.

Welcome to my Blog Bake & Make Sale to raise money for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer!

I feel it’s necessary to tell you that I almost ate my computer while writing this post.

Before we get down to business, I’d like to welcome any new readers, and explain why I’m raising money for this cause.

Next Friday, I will be getting a lump in my right breast surgically removed and biopsied. I first felt the lump in 2007, and have had three ultrasounds and one mammogram since then.

I’m only 23.

After my third ultrasound in August, I wrote on my blog that the doctors classified the lump as a fibroadenoma—a benign tumor. They told me that the lump had all of the characteristics of one, and that I didn’t need a biopsy. They said I was too young to worry about it, and I was ok with that.

Then, a blog reader named Erica changed my mind. She told me that the same thing happened to her, and it turned out to be breast cancer.

So, at my last appointment with the breast surgeon, I looked my doctor straight in the eye, and said “I want a biopsy.”

The doctor suggested that I get the lump surgically removed so I don’t have to worry about it anymore. I agreed.

But, even after the lump is gone, I’m still going to worry about it.

I’m still going to think about the fear I felt when I first found the lump.

I’m still going to worry about the women who have experienced, and will experience the same thing, because it can happen to anyone, after all.

I’m still going to worry about the thousands upon thousands of women (and men) who are affected by breast cancer each year.

Which is why I want to do something about it.

And you can help! Below you’ll find a variety of baked goods and crafts generously donated by bloggers and readers for this sale.

All of the money earned from this bake sale will go straight to The American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
