Guess what, blogfaces? TODAY is my BIRTHDAY!
(I would explain why I’m sitting in a box, but there’s really no reason for it)
It feels strange that today is my actual birthday because I’ve been celebrating all weekend. I kind of feel like it should be over by now. But it’s not!!
I have SO much to tell you about, but I can’t possibly fit it all in one post, so I’ll break up my weekend celebration recaps into a couple posts. Sound good? Good.
On Friday night, I met up with a large group of friends at one of my favorite local restaurants, Brown’s Brewing Co.
For some ridiculous reason, I didn’t take any group pictures. I will tell you though, that Alicia, Emily, and Mareesa were there, along with a lot of my co-workers, my good friends, Jess and Seth, and, of course, Jeff. 🙂
I started off the night with a glass of Brown’s Pale Ale.
Out of all the times I’ve been to Brown’s, I’ve always ordered one of two things: the Spinach Salad or the Black Bean and Barley Burger. This time, however, I decided to go with something completely different: The Grilled Vegetable and Cheese Risotto.
I was really excited when our waitress told me it was made with vegetable stock! I love risotto, but usually can’t order it at restaurants because it’s made with chicken stock.
My entree came with a house salad with balsamic on the side:
Followed by the risotto:
portabella mushrooms, zucchini, onions, and red peppers tossed with risotto.
The risotto was creamy and savory, just like it should be. I really loved how all of the different flavors blended together into one delicious melt-in-your-mouth dish. I’m not going to lie: I ate 90% of it.
Just because I love Brown’s so much, I snapped a few pics of other peoples’ food. I love how I took pictures of my friends’ food, but none of them. You know you’re a food blogger when…
My friend, Casey, ordered the bruschetta:
Tomato, basil, red onion, extra-virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar served with ciabatta crostini.
I tasted a spoonful of the tomato mixture, and it was delicious!
Emily ordered the Chicken Rustica sandwich, which she said was out of this world:
Breaded chicken breast with provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, pesto mayonnaise and leaf lettuce on a grilled flat bread.
Mareesa’s friend, Shawn, ordered the tuna steak, which came out a little on the fatty side. When he informed the waitress, she took it right back, and offered him a free beer while he waited for a new one to come out! How great is that? I love Brown’s!
We all had a great time. The service was great, and the food and beer was delicious, as always. I’m sure all of my guests will be returning soon. If you’re ever in the area, I definitely suggest checking Brown’s out!
We didn’t order dessert, because Jess had a “surprise” for me back at my apartment:
Vegan cupcakes from X’s to O’s Vegan Bakery! (I already knew about them, but I pretended to be surprised)
Jess got me two different kinds: strawberries and cream and cookies and cream. The cookies and cream had Newman’s O’s in them!
Birthday confession: I ate two. 🙂
We also had a few glasses of wine:
Overall, it was a great start to my birthday weekend, and I can’t wait to fill you in on the rest of my delicious weekend!
This morning, Jeff is making me a birthday breakfast, and then we’ll probably go to Uncommon Grounds for lunch!
Have a great Monday! <3
