Oh Boy

Lots of life changes lately:

Let’s start with the biggest one: I am no longer a New Yorker. Well, at least not physically. I’m still one at heart. Last weekend, Jeff and I packed my apartment into our two cars, and I moved into his apartment in Virginia (right outside D.C.). Holy major life change! I’ve been down to VA a few times to visit, but let me tell you, living here is something completely different. Oye. It’s going to take a lot of adjusting, but I do like the area a lot so far. [In case you’re wondering why Virginia? Jeff got a great job down here in September 2011, and we’ve always talked about living near D.C.]

In the beginning of March, my family and I celebrated what would have been my father’s 62nd birthday at his favorite steak restaurant, Peter Lugar. It  definitely wasn’t the same without him, but I know he’d be glad we went. What does a vegetarian eat at a famous steakhouse you ask? Potatoes and creamed spinach. Oh, and the best chocolate mousse cake EVER.

My 25th birthday is on Wednesday! Looking back, I was in a completely different place around my 24th birthday. I have changed a lot in a year, and I know I will keep on growing and changing. Here’s to another year of adventures!

Also, today marks six and a half years with Jeff! Crazy!!! Where did the time go? I still love him just as much today as when I first started dating him. Probably even more.

That’s all for now!

Have you ever moved to a different state? How did you deal with adjusting?

Have a great Friday! <3

  1. Hooray! So awesome to see an update from you pop up in my reader! I am extremely jealous that you are living in the DC area. I visited a friend down there a few years ago and would love to move there.
I packed up my car and moved to NY from Iowa when I was 19 (7 years ago this month!), and it was hands down the best experience/decision of my life. I was really able to grow into myself with the move because it put me so far out of my comfort zone. I hope to see more updates from you soon!

  2. I’ve moved out of state a few times. It’s always an exciting adventure! It can be a little scary sometimes, though.

Explore the area. Just get in the car and drive. Visit the nearby state parks and conservation areas. Look up the local veg group on meetup.com. (DC has a GREAT veg scene!)

And of course, blog about your adventures. 🙂

  3. Great to see this update! Very exciting about your move, I hope you’ll settle in okay! & happy six-and-a-half-years, and happy birthday for Wednesday!
