Because Ice Cream for Breakfast is Allowed on the Weekends

So, this is Sunday morning so far:

Ice cream sandwiches

Don’t even try to tell me you don’t look at chai ginger ice cream sandwiches at 10:30 in the morning too.

I put a load of laundry in the washing machine two hours ago. I’m currently trying to figure out how to move it to the dryer from the couch.

Yesterday, Jeff and I decided to drive forever.

drive

The leaves have just started to change color here and it’s making me miss New York falls so much. Come on, Virginia, catch up!

Country drive 2

As much as I love and miss New York, I have to admit, Virginia is a beautiful state. We drove out to Luray, VA in the Shenandoah Valley and the whole drive was absolutely gorgeous. Just a few more weeks and I’m sure it will be nothing but bright reds and yellows.

After our drive, we headed to a bar to watch the Nationals game with a few friends.

Oktoberfest

This was one of my first Sam Adams OctoberFests of the season! I absolutely refuse to drink fall beer until fall actually starts.

When the game went into the 15th inning (yes, I said 15th inning)…

Nationals

…we decided to head over to our friends Jessica and Struan’s place to finish watching.

Luna pumpkin

Sadly, after 18 innings, the Nats lost. At least there was a puggle in a pumpkin shirt to cheer us up. Say that five times fast.

In other news, I watched 500 episodes of Boy Meets World the other day.

Followed by 500 episodes of Law & Order: SVU. Don’t judge.

I’ve gone to five doctor’s appointments in the past week. FIVE.

The first was a follow-up ultrasound. I plan to write a long-overdue update on what’s going on with that soon.

All of the other appointments had to do with the mysterious injury that’s been plaguing me since March. My knee MRI came back normal and I finally decided to get a second opinion from another sports medicine doctor because the first one told me that if it isn’t my knee, then it’s absolutely rheumatoid arthritis and I thought that was completely ridiculous. The new doctor thinks it’s my back and ordered ANOTHER MRI, which I had at 8 on Friday night.

Sidenote: Who schedules MRIs at 8 p.m. on a Friday? Don’t these people know that I’m 95 and need to be in bed by 7 p.m., especially on Fridays.

So I have a follow-up with that doctor on Wednesday. He thinks I have a pinched nerve in my lower back and it’s causing sciatic nerve pain down my leg. That seems to make a lot more sense to me.

Meanwhile, I went to my foot and ankle doctor on Thursday just to make sure it’s not my shoes or orthotics messing me up.

As I sat waiting for the doctor, I snapped a picture of the artwork on the wall because it was just too ridiculous not to.

feet

I think I need one to hang over our mantel.

THIS doctor told me I have Achilles Tendonitis and gave me this ridiculous splint to wear on my foot while I sleep. It keeps my foot in an upright position, which makes it really difficult for the cat to sleep on my feet in the middle of the night. So maybe that’s a win? He told me that even if my back is causing my other leg pain, the tendonitis is not related at all, and prescribed me 500 more weeks of physical therapy.  Moral of the story: I’m going to be in physical therapy for the rest of my life.

And with that, I’m going to leave you with this picture of Aslan doing whatever the hell this is in our bathroom sink:

  1. I am in love with chai anything so I’d have been all over the chai ice cream sandwiches! I feel your pain on pt… I’ve been going since July 2013 ugh! I don’t know what Achilles tendinitis is but since I know what an Achilles is and I know what tendinitis is I’m going to go with ouch 🙁

  2. I think it’s totally fine to want ice cream for breakfast! I was looking at pinterest for food ideas all weekend. 🙂 Hope you’re on the mend soon!

  3. Yuck! Physical therapy! I hate it when the doctors have such a difficult time diagnosing issues. I’ve been to physical therapy several times, but never committed to finishing the whole “program”! Hope things just “start working” again 🙂

    1. Thanks! I have a love/hate relationship with PT. On one hand, I hate that I have to go and just want to feel better already. On the other, it’s kind of like having a built-in personal trainer/massage therapist all in one! I do exercises at PT that I would never do at the gym–hamstring curls on an exercises ball, calf raises on a trampoline, etc. So at least I’m getting SOME exercise in. 🙂

  4. Thanks for swinging by my site! I LOVE Law & Order SVU– like, seriously. Will teases me all the time because he says it is such a twisted show 🙂 But, I don’t care–I’ve seen every episode (at least before Stabler left the show!)
