Raffle For The Cure (Day 2): Amazing Grass

Note: Locals have until midnight tonight to enter the first raffle for a three-month membership to any Gold’s Gym in the Capital District.

Since I received such a great response at last week’s Bake and Make Sale, I’ve decided to hold another fundraiser.

This one will be a little different. Three businesses have generously offered to donate their services/products as prizes for three raffles that I will hold this week. All of the money earned will go straight to the American Cancer Society via Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

That’s THREE giveaways in one week!!

Today’s raffle is open to US and Canadian residents, and there will be two winners!

To enter, you must buy a raffle ticket. Tickets are $5 and there is NO LIMIT to how many you can purchase. The more tickets you buy, the higher your chances of winning.

How To Purchase Tickets and Enter the Drawing:

  1. Visit my Making Strides Fundraiser Page, and donate. Remember: $5 gets you one ticket, $10 buys you two, $15 = three, and so on.
  2. Come back to this post and leave a comment for each ticket you’ve purchased. So, if you buy three tickets, leave three comments. (Please include the name you used to donate in your comment).

And, that’s it! That’s all you have to do to enter.

Today’s raffle will run until midnight EST on Friday, October 15. The winner will be selected using the random integer generator on Saturday morning. (Note: there may be a delay in announcing the winners due to my surgery on Friday)

OK- here’s today’s prize:

amazing grass

Two winners will receive a bottle sampling of EVERY Amazing Grass product!! (excluding tablets and capsules).

Seriously? How generous is that!?

If you’re not familiar with Amazing Grass, all I have to say is that it’s my absolute FAVORITE thing to add to a smoothie. And it’s good for you!! You can check out the Amazing Grass Website for more information.

If you’re interested in winning this raffle, head over to my Making Strides Page, and donate. Even if you don’t win, you’re still helping to raise money for a great cause!

If you’re a new reader and want to know why I am raising money for Breast Cancer research, you can read my story here, here, and here.

Please spread the word about this raffle! Earn a bonus entry If you mention it on Twitter, Facebook , or in a blog post. Just leave a comment to let me know you did so, and make sure to include @roseyrebecca in your tweet!

Counting Crows and Mixing Bowl Salads

Can I just say that you guys are awesome! Thank you for all of the great comments on my self-image post. I knew I wouldn’t regret sharing my story. You’re all truly amazing. <3

I saw one of my favorite bands in concert last night.

Adam Duritz

I’ll get to that in a second.

First, I want to share this with you:

My green smoothie posed for a photo shoot in various spots in my apartment.

  • 1 Scoop Chocolate Amazing Grass
  • 1 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 2 Spoons of Plain Chobani
  • 1 Spoon of PB&Co Cinnamon Raisin PB
  • Handful of Blueberries

I love when green smoothies taste like milkshakes. I drank that glass in one sip after my workout yesterday. Yes, I said workout. I was able to handle 30 minutes on the crossramp elliptical with no ankle pain. Wahoo! I didn’t want to push it and run because I still have my sports med. appointment on the 9th. I think I was able  to do it because I wrapped my ankle and took ibuprofen beforehand. I was so happy to be back in the gym after almost two whole weeks of resting.

So, it’s totally normal to eat a salad out of a mixing bowl, right?

Because that’s exactly how I ate my lunch yesterday.

I was in the mood for a jumbo salad.

In the mix:

And then I was off to Saratoga to pick up my parking pass for the concert. I asked Mae to come with me to the show because she loves the Counting Crows and because her birthday is next week! Yay for blogger concert dates!

I had a little time to waste before meeting up with her, so I hung out in my favorite coffee shop, Uncommon Grounds.

For dinner, I ordered a toasted Banana Nut bagel with PB & Honey.

Yum and a half.

I was given the opportunity  to cover the Counting Crows show by the paper I write for.

Mae and I were a little early for the show, so, I took pictures of her pretending to run, obviously.  Why wouldn’t I?

Mae Running

Totally normal. Just like big ‘ol salads in mixing bowls.

Then, I stalked some lady’s dogs, like the crazy dog-lovin’ gal I am.

Finally, we asked someone to take the mandatory “we’re at a concert so take our picture,” picture:

Half-way through the show, we realized we were in the wrong seats. Fail.

During intermission, I asked the audio tech 10 times for the set list before he gave it to me. I was also asked by several drunkards why I was taking notes. I told them I was crazy.

Ah, the adventures of being a journalist.

Oh, and I took a million pictures of Adam’ Duritz with his eye closed and his head tipped back:

Please note that he changed his shirt five million times during the three hour set.

It’s also crucial to note that I didn’t cry when the band came on stage like I thought I would. Self-control, people, self-control.

Again, you can read my complete review of the show here.

Mae quickly became my new best friend when she bought me a concert shirt for no reason at all. I’m going to wear it every day of my life. MY LIFE. Mae, thank you again!

Overall, we had a blast!

Quick- what’s your favorite Counting Crows song?

Don’t listen to them? WHY? No- just kidding- favorite song of all time?

Have a great night! <3
