I ate the best breakfast burrito of my life yesterday:
It contained one scrambled egg mixed with tomato, 1/4 cup refried black beans, a scoop of homemade guac (avocado, chopped onion, tomato, garlic powder), a splash of Frank’s Red Hot, and 1/2 tsp of shredded cheddar. Heated in a whole wheat tortilla over medium heat until crispy, and topped with salsa. Yum!
I just ate this chocolate chip cookie:
It’s blurry because I ate it so fast.
When Jeff is away from our apartment, I sleep with this flashlight in my bed:
It’s so I can whack intruders in the head. (Stalkers be warned, Jeff will be home tonight!)
That brown and black blurb on the left side of the picture is a stuffed beagle named Achoo. Jeff got him for me at Build-a-Bear in 2006. Achoo sleeps in my bed every night. 🙂
My kitchen sink looks like this:
That mug in the bottom left corner was used to hold hot water to pour on my frozen car door this morning. It was then used to hold ______ cups of coffee at work all day.To be fair, more than half those cups were decaf.
I spent $68 on groceries today…
…most of which are for me.
My dinners these days are lazy and delicious:
1/2 a whole wheat pita stuffed with Sabra hummus, 1/4 an avocado, 1/4 a tomato. Sliced tomato and 1/2 cup of that rice blend from the pic above.
The inside of my gym bag looked like this earlier:
I brought it to work with me so I could hit the gym directly after my shift. I shared the Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies with my coworkers, and topped the Kashi Fire-Roasted Veggie crackers with tiny smears of cream cheese, sliced roasted red pepper, and chopped cucumber. Don’t be jealous.
Exercise makes everything better. Period.
If you missed it, here’s Part One of my March Confessions. Thank you so much for your support. Your feedback really makes everything a lot easier to deal with. I really appreciate each and every one of your comments. <3
Thank you to everyone who commented, tweeted, and e-mailed when I announced my unexpected break from blogging. I know many of you are wondering what happened, but I’m not ready to discuss that yet. The past two weeks have been very difficult for me and for those close to me, but I have faith that everything will be OK.
So, I’m calling this a party post because I have a lot of fun things to talk about! Such as the winners of my CalNaturale Svelte giveaway. I apologize for the late announcement, but late is better than never, right? What’s a party post without prizes!?
The 12-pack variety case goes to Christi Trasterwho said: I’m pregnant with baby #3 and am always looking for ways to get extra protein – and for things that I can grab on the fly! I would love to try them all – but cappuccino sounds the yummiest to me!
And the two runners-up, who will each receive a four-pack of Svelte, are:
Brooke Griffin who said: Oh my goodness, I’m so glad to see these being discovered! I pick up some of the vanilla ones whenever I can afford to stop by Wholefoods and I’m absolutely in love with them! They are sooo delicious, fresh, and I love that such a high protein drink has so much fiber! That’s a major plus for me. Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to find the Vanilla ones. I’d love to try the chocolate or coffee ones too!
And, Lindsay, who said: These little guys look so tasty! I so want to try the French Vanilla flavor. I am on the go a lot with my job, so grabbing one and heading out the door would be ideal!

So, seven things about myself, eh? I seem to remember writing a post with ten random facts about myself back in August, so I have to be careful not to repeat myself, because that would be boring. Here goes nothing:
Fact One: I am a pizza snob.
I grew up 40 minutes outside NYC, with my father and two brothers, who are even bigger pizza snobs (my mother doesn’t care as much. She worries more about books). My family has traveled miles and miles for good pizza. I can tell you if a slice is going to be good just by looking at it. I am not the kind of snob who refuses to eat crappy pizza at a party. I just know the difference. (Note: Two weekends ago, I ate three slices of the pizza you see above- it was that good)
Fact Two: My brother, Adam, is 10 years older than me. He started teaching English at my high school when I was a freshman. My first locker was right next to his classroom, and he used to write me late passes all the time. (He’s all the way to right in the picture below)
My other brother, David (all the way to the left), is six years older than me. He just turned 30 on the 10th.
Fact Three: I had my first sip of alcohol on my 21st birthday. I had no desire to drink before that. My first drink was a Malibu Bay Breeze. It was made by a bartender at a club called Cabaloosa’s in New Paltz, NY. It was 80’s night, and Cyndi Lauper was blaring through the speakers.
21 was the year of mixed drinks, 22 was the year I started liking beer. I didn’t like wine until I was 23. Now, it’s my drink of choice. I’d choose red wine over a Malibu bay breeze any day.
Fact Four: Speaking of the age 23, I turn 24 in one month and three days. Bakeries should start preparing cupcakes now. I plan to eat 57 (plus one for good luck).
Fact Five: I’ve been with Jeff since I was 18. He was two months away from 21 when I met him, making him nearly three years older than me. We will have been together five and a half years on March 16. We’ve lived together for two.
On Valentine’s Day in 2006, he took me to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. We ate at Carmine’s afterward—one my of my favorite restaurants in the city. I proceeded to fall down the stairs of the subway entrance in Times Square. It was the best Valentine’s Day ever. I’m not kidding.
Fact Six: I am very shy in person. Always have been, but I try not to be, which makes me a little socially awkward. In groups, I’m more of a listener than a talker, unless I am 100% comfortable with everyone there. I’m usually very quiet.
Fact Seven: My two favorite workouts? Weight training and spinning. Hands down. I know a lot of people would say running, but I’m just not one of them. I’m ok with that. 🙂
OK, now it’s time to nominate 10 great, recently-discovered bloggers for the award. Well, I haven’t really discovered any new blogs lately—I’m out of the loop, recommendations welcome— but, here are five of my very favorite bloggers:
Mareesa from Slow Running Saratoga (Mareesa is actually my good friend. I met her while working at the local paper. She’s awesome)
Vanessa from Green as A Thistle (Discovered after reading her book Sleeping Naked is Green)
